The Donovan Hotel : Washington : A Kimpton Hotel

11/29/2015Jake Ryan

So this summer I had the pleasure of travelling around the USA in my dream road trip. I’d visited the states several times previously but had never quite done the road trip ‘thing’

Well I put my plan into action and planned a trip starting in New York and finishing in Las Vegas. The second stop during my trip was Washington DC. Which took me to the Donovan Hotel.

You’ll find the Donovan hotel located downtown Washington DC. The hotel is walking distance to all the main tourist attractions in the city with it being about a 10/15 minute walk from the White House and Washington Monument.

Before you head for a busy day in the city, why not make a splash in the rooftop pool? A work out more your thing? Head to the 24 hour fitness centre and work out at any time. You'll find something in this hotel that suits your needs.

Inside your room you’ll find a sleek modern design, with a leather canopy bed and clean white linens, it'll be hard not to fall in love with your room.

The hotel offers free wifi for Kimpton Karma Rewards members so be sure to sign up before you visit.

Some of the other features you’ll find in the hotel as stated by their website

Awarded the 2015 Certificate of Excellence by TripAdvisor
Hosted Evening Wine Hour everyday from 5PM-6PM
Use of a yoga mat in every room, free of charge
Morning coffee and tea service 6AM-9AM
Complimentary use of custom PUBLIC bikes. Our hotel bikes are available on a first come, first serve basis
Asian fusion cuisine at Zentan, a DC favorite

All in all this is a great hotel for your time in Washington DC. and although you could probably find a hotel a little closer to the action, I enjoyed relaxing in the Donovan in a quieter part of the city and yet, still within walking distance. Across the road from the hotel you’ll also find a superstore where you’ll be able to pick up any drinks/snacks or anything else you may have forgotten for your stay.

Check out some of the shots from my stay at the hotel.

Have you visited Washington DC. Where did you stay?
