Checking In : Content Villa Chiang Mai

9/05/2018Jake Ryan

During a recent trip to Chiang Mai, I wanted a hotel that was located close enough to get to the city to explore but a place where I could relax and get away from the busy city when I could. I decided a stay at Content Villa might just be the perfect place.

I checked into Content Villa and discovered a serene and beautiful hotel located just outside the centre of Chiang Mai.

The hotel is still brand new and absolutely spotless, it has an onsite coffee shop, a lovely lake, massage room and hotel restaurant and fresh water pool. The area surrounding the hotel is quiet so no matter the time of day you’ll find peace relaxing at Content Villa. With a British Colonial style and beautifully furnished throughout, this is the perfect spot for someone not wanting to be in the centre of a busy city.

I was staying in a large Premium Executive room. The room was tastefully decorated throughout and featured a large bathroom, large bedroom and separate seating area. One feature I enjoyed was the ‘Netflix’ button on the TV meaning you could log into Netflix and catch up on your favourite shows. I don’t normally watch TV while travelling, but the peacefulness of Content Villa meant I could sit back and relax like I would if I was in my own home. One of my favourite parts of the room was the bed, it was extremely comfortable and you would just sink into it on an evening.

The hotel comes with complimentary breakfast that starts at 7am until 10am in the restaurant. Be sure to try the fried rice with pork as this is absolutely delicious. If you’re going out early the next day, ask before 7 the previous night and the hotel will make you up a breakfast box to take with you.

Content Villa is located about 20 minutes from the city centre by car and runs a shuttle service to the city twice a day (one way). For a taxi back from a central city location will set you back around 170 baht. I didn’t have a single taxi driver who knew the location, but thanks to Sat Nav they all found it okay.

If you’re planning a trip to Chiang Mai but don’t want to stay in the busy centre than this might be the perfect hotel for you, but bear in mind when booking that if you’re planning on experiencing a lot of Chiang Mai and booking onto different tours of the city, the tour companies will not collect you from Content Villa, so you might at your own expense have to make your way to the city in the morning.

Thanks Content Villa for hosting my stay.
As always, opinions are entirely my own.
