How To Spend A Night In Covent Garden With Assembly Hotels

11/28/2018Jake Ryan

I recently partnered with Assembly Hotels for my time in London. Located perfectly in Leicester Square, this hotel is the perfect location for exploring central London.

From your room, you can be in Covent Garden within 5 minutes, and that’s on foot! So I have put together the best way to spend a night in Covent Garden.

5 pm. Enjoy A Drink - The Escapologist
Start your night with a drink at the Escapologist, located in Seven Dials, The Escapologist is an underground bar that serves cocktails and if you visit between 5pm and 7pm you’ll be right on time for their happy hour. Cocktails come in at around £10 per drink which is why I’d suggest visiting during Happy Hour.

The drinks aren’t measured and taste great, the space is small but works well. What really sets this bar apart to others in central London is how friendly the staff are.

One other tip for visiting The Escapologist is, before you head there on your first visit, be sure to check out their website and sign up and you’ll be treated to a free cocktail, no strings attached.

6pm. Grab Something To Eat - Flat Iron Steak
Flat Iron Steak sits at number 1 in the results for best places to get a steak in Covent Garden, however when I saw that they only charge £11 for a steak I had concerns that it might not be the best quality steak however, those concerns were absolutely not needed.

Flat Iron offers a small and simple menu and charges £11 for it’s most popular steak, which is cooked perfectly and tastes incredible. The steak tastes great without any sauce, so if you’re happy with eating steak as it is, I’d skip the sauce. The steak doesn’t come with any sides other than salad, so you can pay extra for the sides. I went with the fries which were £3.95 and great side to the dish.

On the way out, you’re treated to a complimentary ice cream rolled in chocolate flakes which was a great added bonus.

The staff are friendly and the restaurant gets busy pretty quickly so be sure to book a table in advance, don’t worry if you forget though as if you arrive at the restaurant without a reservation, they’ll take a mobile number and text you when your tables ready.
7.30pm. See A Show - The Lion King
You’ll never forget your night at The Lion King. Watch as stunning theatrics and effects alongside the incredible music bring the moving story of Simba to life right in front of your eyes. If you can afford it, spend a little extra for better seats on the main floor and watch as the cast make their way down the aisles right next to you.

After the show you can either head back to your hotel or wonder around Covent Garden and check out one of the many pubs for another drink, however I opted for bed.

Back at the hotel - Assembly Hotels have a 24 hour reception, and you'll find yourself able to walk most places you'd want to visit. This is an absolutely ideal hotel to stay at for your trip to London. Check out their website here for more information and keep checking back for a full review of my stay soon.

Thanks Assembly Hotels for hosting my stay during my time in London.
As always, opinions are entirely my own.
