Having lived in France, London, Salt Lake City, LA, Washington DC, San Francisco and now residing in Amsterdam, it’s safe to say Emi from the Well Traveled Wife has certainly seen a lot of the world.
Tell us a little about yourself.
I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and have since lived in Paris, Washington DC, London, LA, San Francisco, and currently Amsterdam. After stints with Teach For America, graduate school, and Google, I decided to pursue my biggest passion: traveling the world and writing about it. I write my own worldwide travel blog, WellTraveledWife.com, have appeared on a PBS travel show, and work on various freelance assignments for travel outlets. My favorite thing is to go where I've never been. I love the mountains, all things French, rain, all dogs, the Utes, and adventuring with my husband. I believe in eating well & traveling often and want to help others do the same.
So we see from your blog/instagram that you love to travel, how often are you travelling?
Right now, quite a lot! We traveled full-time for 3 months through Europe as we moved over here, and now being based in Europe has helped us travel almost every weekend because things are so close and inexpensive to get to. We are on the road at least a week or more of each month!
What has been your most exciting moment while travelling?
I think being on safari in South Africa has been the true highlight of all our travels. It was just a highlight to be so close to nature and in awe of the incredible wildlife. Other favorite experiences were canyoning in the Swiss Alps, and riding horseback up Mount Vesuvius at sunset in Italy!
What’s been your favourite destination?
Norway has been our very favorite place that we could not stop talking about after we visited. There are not many places we want to return to since there are so many new places to see, but Norway is a place we will definitely be back to. The nature, the people, and the whole experience was so refreshing and magical. Aside from this, China and India were the most memorable because they were the most different.
Do you have any tips for those wanting to travel more?
Do it! It's easy to find reasons and excuses not to travel, but if you put work in you can make travel affordable and doable. Even if you start by exploring your own city, get yourself out there and find adventure. It's waiting!
