Where To Go New York : Top Of The Rock

11/26/2017Jake Ryan

The best views in New York come from Top of the Rock. Top of the Rock Observation Deck is located at Rockefeller Plaza and offers 3 floors of indoor and outdoor viewing of the city that never sleeps. Sitting on the 67th to the 70th Floor the views of New York from Top of the Rock include the most famous landmarks that the city has to offer, including the world famous Empire State Building, my personal favourite the Chrysler building and stunning views of Central Park.

The weather plays a huge part on your visit to Top of the Rock, if the city is cloudy skip your visit and wait for another day. You can book a ticket online via sites like Viator that offer the benefit of a pre booked ticket that allows you to skip the line, but also have flexible ticket redemption. Meaning if you book a ticket and your chosen day to visit is the day it decides to rain morning till night, you can wait until the sun comes out again the next day before visiting giving you the best views of the city.

One thing you need to decide about your visit is, when should you go?
Day or night?

A visit during the day offers you the views of New York completely unobstructed, you can see for as far as the eye allows.

And a visit at night is a magical experience as you witness the city that never sleeps in all it’s lit up glory.

I have visited during the day and night and personally prefer to visit during the day, early morning when you pretty much have the entire deck to yourself. However one thing I would suggest is either booking the Sun and Stars ticket which allows you to visit twice in one day, once during the day and once after it gets dark. Or if you don’t want to pay the extra money for the Sun and Stars ticket, visit before sundown and stay as the sun sets over the city and the city lights back up again as New York comes back to life.

The observation deck is open 365 days a year and is on pretty much every single ‘Must do in NYC’ list so make sure you book your ticket now, and have you camera charged ready for a trip to the Top of The Rock.
